One of the most essential factors that potential purchasers evaluate

before buying a car is how safe it is in the case of a collision.

To give this critical information to customers, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

recently tested the Cadillac XT6 using its new crash test protocols

the luxury brand's midsize crossover received the lowest overall score in its category.

The XT6 received a mediocre grade for rear-passenger head and neck protection

a bad rating for rear-passenger chest and restraints in recent testing.

Although the Caddy crossover achieved acceptable ratings in all other categories,

the aforementioned flaws resulted in a dismal overall grade.

Meanwhile, three other vehicles received good ratings

two received acceptable, and two received marginal scores.
